Formula One driver, Romain Grosjean, escape's from a huge crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix has been hailed as a testament to the sport’s pursuit of safety.

The French driver smashed into trackside barriers, his car split in two and was engulfed in flames, but his head was protected by the halo cockpit protection device made mandatory by the FIA in 2018. Lewis Hamilton went on to win, but tweeted ahead of his victory 'I am so grateful Romain is safe. Wow ... the risk we take is no joke'

An investigation should start with , Anyone knows that being struck from the side can knock a man out .? 200th of a second later Daniil kvyat would have been blind sided from another really bad decision made by grosjean , thus possibly rendering Daniil unconscious , as he too hit the same spot . Completely Unable to extract himself . Then What would people be saying.? When the doctor had to choose 1 or other ? Outcome would be he deliberately careered from one severe side of the track to the extreme other . When you look at this guys mistakes over the years , you seriously have to wonder why he has not had his licence revoked . Romain grosjean, whilst lucky to be alive is also luckier that he was the one that came of the worst .

you can clearly see the effect of the new suit they introduced this year, the globes could only withstand 10 seconds on the fire while the suite 20 sec, also the halo saved him sfter he went through the barrier, he, this of course was a micacle, he would have not survived with last year gear, truly something to study about for 2022

@walkgeo Yes, both of you (Max and Walkgeo) are so right: The Halo saved him while going through the guard rail and the drivers suit gave him enough time to get out. It would have been a tragedy if he survived the impact but perished because of fire.

Dale would have survived if he used HANS device, but he believed it was useless and it wasn't mandatory. Ironically, Grosjean hated Halo at first, and it just ended up saving his life.
